December 23rd Mission 4: Rinaldi is assigned to Amalgam RC-V1 together with VE-NSC2 Dr. Noomai Chandra, VE-NSC3A Cpt. J. Edgar Horrigan and VE-PDCC1 Prof. Shane Davenport. The objective of the mission is to investigate paranormal activity in connection with a Hemavore cult around the Milano Gothic Club 'Purgatorio' Debriefing Results: Preliminary investigation revealed troubling yet inconclusive evidence gathered by Horrigan and Chandra. Further surveillance of the location is initiaded. Tayla G. is integrated into the Amalgam; Chandra and Davenport are relegated to research efforts. Investigation reveals the scope of the Hemavore cult, and the identity of the corrupted willworker Carlo Allevi NP-X41EB who cooperates with the Hemavores. In self defense, the Amalgam was forced to destroy Allevi, the cult leader Adolpho Cesaro, and his alleged fiancee Titziana Secci. Gino Varese The fourth member of the cult was subsequently captured for research purposes. A fifth individual recorded on digital media during the investigation has been identified as Angelina Giovanni - a Milanese banker's widow. Evidence gathered on this subject is yet inconclusive.
>>
<<
Year 2 January 1st Rinaldi is assigned to research project concerning the Hemavore cult member's organism for the source of his superhuman power. The Void Engineer staff start working on inconclusive evidence gathered by Chandra and Horrigan. January 10th Rinaldi concludes research and returns to lecture duties for Dr. Cargnelli. Project Janus Phase 2 progress is impressive. Davenport and Chandra present the results of their own research on the new material. They present the Chandra-Davenport Scale for classification of Spectral Entities. Their theories are accused of incoherence though and scheduled for evaluation. January 11th Incident in the Progenitor Construct. Student Marco Gambresi is killed by an unidentified assailant. All evidence is claimed by Damage Control.
>>
<<
January 12th Chandra, Davenport, Horrigan and Rinaldi start working on a clandestine research project to find the means for access to the transdimensional location of a beacon placed by Chandra and Horrigan during the Purgatorio investigation. The final phase of the research culminates in an experiment of disputed outcome. Later reports from Ph.D. Carla Brahms of PsyOps seem to confirm corrupted influence. Rinaldi claims to having experienced a Nephandi wrought nightmare including 'cities built of souls' and a 'sea of tears'. Davenport is asked for a thorough report. January 14th Damage Control proclaims that evidence indicates Marco Gambresi as corrupted traitor who died as a consequence of his own twisted workings. Case is proclaimed closed January 22nd Rinaldi suspects foul play, with Cargnelli plotting behind the scenes. Final Phase of project Janus has been initiated after psychological treatment. Progress as expected. Rinaldi and Horrigan start their own investigation. They manage to link Cargnelli to Damage Control and begin to suspect a conspiracy.
>>
<<
January 25th After finding evidence pointing at Dr. Tristao Cargnelli which suggests his corruption, Rinaldi is imprisoned for security breaches and unauthorized access within the Damage Control facility. January 28th Research Director Martina Schreiber orders Rinaldi out of prison. After uncovering Rinaldi's background and his past as Andrea Malotti she summons Alexis Reed before her. For his involvement in the affair, Cpt. Horrigan is also ordered to attend The meeting is interrupted by an attack of controlled organism AT-C5 classified as Autotrophic Attack Organism. They manage to survive. Consequently Tristao Cargnelli is detained by Internal Operations on a distress call made by Alexis Reed. January 31st On initiative of RD Martina Schreiber, a Special Trial Commission is called into session to deal with the case of PI Cargnelli. After all evidence has been presented, and all points have been heard, the Commission declares Dr. Tristao Cargnelli as unmutual, his name and reputation to be erased, and finally sentences him to death. Cargnelli is granted the right to take his own life by Construct Control.

February 5th As a decree following the outcome of the Commission on the 31st of January, the Pharmacopeist Lab at the Progenitor Construct is attached to the Genegineer Methodology until further notice. Rinaldi, Davenport and Horrigan are assigned to the Deep Space patrol vessel Archimedes, a Qui-La Machina of the new X-2000 type under the command of Flt. Cpt. Tabatha Carrington. Project Janus files are found to be compromised. Investigations yet inconclusive. February 15th Mission 5: The Archimedes is sent through the Saturn Deep Space Phase Gate to Beteigeuze to investigate signals from the Calyx-II Gate Platform - Horrigans last assignemnt in space. Debriefing Results: The Calyx-II was reclaimed and staffed with a detachment crew of the Union Cruiser Righteous after a trans time-space pocket reality created by a backlash from a procedure initiated by Prof. Ira Simmons could be destroyed by Horrigan, Davenport and Rinaldi. Simmons is posthumely honoured for his achievements for the Union and for the effort of saving the platform from Alien invasion.
>>
<<
February 17th Mission 6: En-Route to the COP, the Archimedes is ordered to stop by the John Stuart Mill Experimental Microeconomy on the second moon of Mintaka II. Latest reports from there have caused braindeath in an observer and seem undecipherable. No further communications could be established since then. Debriefing Results: The landing on the Syndicate Colony proved difficult. It's character had been severely changed into a twisted and dangerous reality dictated by TV-spots. Finally the cause was determined to be the Construct's leading Economist Prof. Charles Mackenzie. Under extreme danger - the operation resulted in the loss of Iteration-X support technitian CLAB-33 Ang Joh Toh, the injury of Cpt. Horrigan and in the temporary insanity of Dr. Rinaldi - the construct was secured and Prof. Mackenzie was detained. February 20th Dr. Rinaldi attempts mutiny or destruction of the ship by the means of a PlayStation and is subsequently overwhelmed and isolated. The security measures on Prof. Mackenzie are increased.

March 2nd The Archimedes arrives at the COP. During retrofitting, Rinaldi is commited to the DIMH for psychological treatment. A later reunion with former collegue Aleena Myers seems to improve his condition. Horrigan experiences his first seeking. March 30th Mission 6: Investigation of an unidentified object picked up by long range scanners in the vicinity of the Horse Head Nebula. Debriefing Results: Object turned out to be a container holding the brain of Etherite Professor Dr. Albin van Telfs. The object is of Etherite construction, but according to van Telfs it is of Alien design. April 4th Encounter with Ethernaut Cruiser 'Intrepid' confirms suspicion of Son of Ether activities in this sector. Ethernauts are forced to accept boarding after Davenport and Horrigan manage to disable their main weapon during an attack. Alleged Alien involvement is confirmed when Aliens are found on board of the Intrepid, obviously having infiltrated the ship without the knowledge of the Ethernaut crew. Private Kosinski dies in battle with the Aliens.
>>
<<
April 6th With the captured Intrepid in tow, the Archimedes proceeds to locate the Saint Expiry space station of the Ethernauts. Another Alien intrusion is repelled by force during flight. One Alien is captured alive and prepared for research purposes. April 15th Saint Expiry Station is found in the upper atmospheric reaches of the uncharted planet K-25L6, far from it's original posotion in the planet's Orbit Mission 7: Free the station from it's Alien occupation and secure it for the Void Engineers. Debriefing Results: The landing team lead by Horrigan was successful against the now identified Mi-Go Aliens occupying the station. Private Byrne dies in battle. Unfortunately a third force consisting of creatures later identified by the captive Mi-Go as Raamas-Ka suddenly phased into this continuum in and around both the ship and the station. In the following battle, Sgt. Devon Burke, Private Ito Takahashi, Private Sekar Rajiv and Iteration-X support technicians Sam Winston, Dana Hall and Gordon Smith die. Additional personnel missing presumed dead are: Void Engineer Support Technitian Till Hansen and Research Scientist Garcia Juarez. The Saint Expiry station was destroyed and the Intrepid left adrift. The Archimedes lost the main hull and sustained massive damage throughout the rest of the ship. Low on power and sending a distress call out, the Archimedes drifts on a slow course towards the COP.
>>
<<
May 7th After three weeks drifting through space, the Archimedes is picked up by the Carrier Ship Europa May 29th After three weeks of training and recovery, Rinaldi and Horrigan are dispatched to meet with IHEET explorer Lester Gordon of the EFD. Davenport is reassigned to his former place of work, the Iris space station in the orbit of Saturn May 31st Rinaldi and Horrigan are intercepted en-route through the digital web by the Marauder Aaron Blake. The Marauder partially erases their identities and disjoins their icons. They are rescued by the Son of Ether JJ Hawkins and lead out of the Junklands. After cruising the web they locate their destination: The Pearl Paradigms construct.
>>
<<
June 3rd In exchange for a favour, Rinaldi and Horrigan run an errand for Laurent Gil, Progenitor Pharmacopeist of Pearl Paradigms: They retrieve a rare herbal substance from the Chinese pharmacist Chu Chao June 5th The two operatives are sent away with Lester Gordon who was called in at their arrival and are brought to the Chinese - Indian border that night. Problems with their data profiles have yet to be resolved. June 6th Arrival at SeaView point Construct. Due to weather conditions the team remains grounded for three days. June 7th On the agenda of her Mentor Alyssa Carter, Alice Schönberg is sent to Hong Kong for investigations of obscure drug sources Laurent Gil had made use of.
>>
<<
June 8th Activation of Awakened Construct Armature D9 at 16:00 local Hong Kong time. Alice Schönberg arrives and D9 is dispatched for her 'protection' on unknown mission parameters by Programmer Pavithra Ahdri, designation IX-CA33 June 9th Horrigan and Rinaldi travel to Nepal to research lore on the Kaualunga mountain. Mission 8: Locate evidence of actually existing alien structures in the Himalaya. Determine possible candidates for Dimensional Science devices of alien origin which can prevent the alien intrusion into this dimension. Schönberg and D9 begin investigation of subject Chu Chao classification SO-21466. June 11th The Himalaya team scales the slopes of the Kaualunga. After a chance meeting with Reinhold Messner, they are attacked by a mythical creature known to the locales as Gnop-Keh. They are finally admitted to the Kannagara Monastery on mount Kaualunga.
>>
<<
June 12th After a brief battle with the supernatural subject Gan Shuo (classification DC-113M47) - Schönberg and D9 receive a lens of unknown purpose from Chu Chao. Activation of the lens' power results in their teleportation from Hong Kong into the core of the Kaualunga mountain. Horrigan and Rinaldi are admitted into the depths of the monastery by the monks and are left to their own devices in a strange location inside the mountain. The same place into which the other team is teleported. June 13th The group finds an ancient Mi-Go primal energy mining drill which is part of a whole construction inside the mountain. Research of the drill's function is conducted. June 14th A test run based on the gathered knowledge about the drill results in it's activation for a short time until the improvised primal energy adapter fails. Weather conditions above the Kaualunga improve to previously unknown levels. Communication with SeaView Point is established, and additional equipment to set up a camp is requested. Taking advantage of the good weather conditions, the team establishes a comm-line to Pearl Paradigm to report their findings.
>>
<<
June 15th Camp equipment is brought in by helicopter. Weather conditions continue to worsen during the day, and reach their usual hostile level by night. A force field is set up to protect the camp from the elements. Coming next day, communication breaks down again and the team is as isolated as before. June 16th Team conducts further analysis of the system. Another activation of the drill results in improved weather conditions again. Energy dispersion system and coriolis helix are discovered and mapped. Dr. Gardener, technician from SeaView Point, is brought in and determines possible applications for a complex new procedure. June 17th The activation of the last missing system of the mountain drill results in the unwanted revival of an alien. After a brief conflict negotiations with the alien start. The creature - a member of the already encountered Mi-Go species - largely remains a mystery. Reports from the deep universe indicate further, and increasing, Raamas-Ka activity within the Horse Head Nebula. D9 decides to ensure continued operation of the alien device. An Iteration-X HIT-Mark team is deployed to secure the site.
>>
<<
June 18th Superstinionist subjects of the Akashic Brotherhood denomination (Ref. Doc. SAB-I01) demand the retreat of the HIT-Mark team. While conflict with the Akashic monks ensues, revived alien engineers activate the transmitter beam and drain the complete reservoir. As a consequence of the alien's procedure, the dimensional rift in the Horse Head Nebula closes. The Amalgam manages to drive off the superstisionists, but their final strike leaves the facility crippled. The damaged state of the system leads to it's self destruction under the strain of the alien procedure. The Amalgam is forced to retreat and abandon the site. Debriefing Results: While it was impossible to secure the energy drill facility for Technocratic use, the superstitionists were successfully cut off from that resource as well. Considering their superiour position in that area, this is a definite shift in the balance to the Union's side. The more important factor is, that Technocratic forces were able to repel an invasion from Beyond through the concerted effort of Void Engineer teams in the Deep Universe with the earthbound Amalgam.
>>
<<
June 20th After the reconsolidation of forces at SeaView Point, Armature D-9, Cpt. J. Edgar Horrigan, Guido Rinaldi and Alice Schönberg are sent back to the Pearl Paradigms Construct for recovery. June 21st Horrigan is promoted to the rank of Major. Prof. Alyssa Carter and journalist Alice Schönberg attend the ceremony aboard the new Void Engineer flagship Paradigm. In Hongkong, Rinaldi finds a revealing yet cryptical clue left for him by Laurent Gil who has not reported back to the Construct for a few days. Pearl Paradigms CEO Simone Carsweld consequently tells Rinaldi about the importance of relocating the missing Symposium member.
>>
<<
June 22nd Mission 9: Return Laurent Gil to the Pearl Paradigms Construct Under a strict deadline of only a few hours, Rinaldi supervises a team to locate and retrieve Gil. First leads reveal clues that indicate a connection between Gan Shuo, Chu Chao and Gil's disappearance. Alyssa Carter investigates Chu Chao, while Schönberg researches background information on Gan Shuo. Horrigan, Rinaldi and D9 brave the Hong Kong underworld of the infamous Wan Chai district. Debriefing Results: After Schönberg acquires information on Gan Shuo from a mysterious individual she meets through library director Wong Li, the team joins up to delve into te depths of a hidden gangland refuge in Wan Chai. The ensuing confrontation with the criminals leaves many wounded or dead, among them Gan Shuo's chief enforcer Fen Jin (DC-114N0) and presumably Gan Shuo himself. Gil is located, but he stays elusive: After he is rescued from catacombs beneath Gan Shuo's hideout, the Pearl Paradigms Chemist disappears again. Rinaldi is left with an ambiguous legacy from his strange collegue. Something inside him stirs then, but is quenched by more profane motivations. Gil's reach, however, extends beyond his presence: A called-in favour covers the whole carnage at the sinister hideout up.

June 23rd After Horrigan's major injuries heal practically overnight, Rinaldi is suddenly showing signs of strange physical and mental extertion. D9 is reinstated into full functionality through great personal effort of Programmer Ahdri. The team departs on a mission on behalf of Alyssa Carter. Mission 10: Locate and rescue remnants of Carter's team in the Kongo Basin. If possible determine what happened to the expedition and maintain a bridgehead for continued investigation. June 25th The team arrives at Kisangani Airport in the morning. After eight hours train travel they arrive at Kindu to meet Dr. Okwambe at the resupply station in the early evening hours of the day. After a brief excursion into the town's 'nightlife', they decide to approach the local Colonél with a request for equipment. June 26th Rinaldi and Horrigan negotiate a deal with Colonél Tinongobe. Rinaldi's wits and Horrigan's expertise can secure them some weapons and light armour for the trip into the jungle. D9 uses most of his private funds to finance the weapons deal. Checking the merchandise, Horrigan and D9 have a strange and inconclusive encounter with a native supernatural. The whole team departs up the Lualaba at midnight.
>>
<<
June 27th After a brief and foreshadowing round of inquiries at a local village, the team crosses the river to follow the tracks of the Carter Expedition to G'Harne. In the late afternoon the team is ambushed at a remarkable yet disturbing tree cadaver by the dreaded Borbor Pygmies. The attacking ravagers are decimated, but all team members except Horrigan are gravely injured in the combat. Despite their injuries, the party carries on and finds the camp at the ruins of G'Harne in the late afternoon. June 28th Desperate measures and high level medical applications manage to heal the worst wounds of the Amalgam's members. They begin to explore the nearest subterranean reaches of the city and locate the rest of the G'Harne fragments by noon. Transportation of the engravings to the camp begins, Rinaldi and D9 proceed to investigate further corridors. Their investigations rouse the Cthonians from below. During an Earthquake caused by the Cthonians, the Amalgam manages to escape the angry beings at hair's breadth, taking the stone tablets with them.
>>
<<
June 29th On return to the UNHCR camp in Kindu at night, the Amalgam have to realize they are not the only ones who wanted to explore the G'Harne site. A team of the Discovery Geological Survey corporation has arrived and prepares to depart on the next day. The Amalgam tries to deter the Discovery Co. leader Samuel Farquart from sending his team there by fabricating evidence of a new and lethal epidemic in the area. June 30th Following an obvious betrayal on the part of Colonel Tinongobe, the team is arrested in the morning and charged with weapon smuggling. Farquart's interference saves them from an uncertain future in a Kongo military prison and he negotiates that the Amalgam may leave. Debriefing Results: The stone tablets could not be recovered. Due to the Colonel's betrayal and the interference of the Discovery team, the tablets had to be destroyed lest they fall into the wrong hands. Unfortunately not all the tablets were destroyed and some might still get into the possession of Farquart and his team. The information content of the tablets was recovered in the form of digital photographs tough, and can be processed in the course of further research.

<<
July 1st The Amalgam follows Alyssa Carter's last instructions and heads for Marrakesh where they meet Alexis Reed in a proclaimed holiday resort. During their three day vacation, Horrigan finds some ancient documents in an obscure bookstore. July 5rd Preparations for a Special Commission audit concerning the reestablishment of Rinaldi's identity profile are undertaken on the first day after the return to I23. D9 is adjoined to the usermatrix of the Iteration-X subsystem. July 6th Rinaldi faces the Special Commission under the moderation of Lensman James Arkin. Through skillful rhethorics and with the unexpected help of Dr. Carla Brahms of Psych Ops and Alexis Reed from the Board of Supervisors he manages to avoid any dire consequences and his loyalty index is reestablished as it used to be.
>>
<<
July 7th The Amalgam is disbanded, but each member manages to secure enough resources to begin researching the translation and contents of the digital photographs taken of the G'Harne stone tablets. Additional material extracted from the Marrakesh bookshop's treasures finds it's way into the Iteration-X computer through D9. The comptroller Yovis is interested. July 8th With support from Iteration-X gained in exchange for the strange algorithm that developed in the computer core from encoding the Moroccan scrolls, Alice Schönberg, D9 and Horrigan take a plane to Providence New England and take up the lead to the fate of the remaining G'Harne fragments taken by the Wendy-Smith expedition. Mission 11: Determine the fate of nine missing tablets of the G'Harne scripture. If possible, retrieve them from their current whereabouts. Debriefing Results: During the disturbing investigations at the Arkham Asylum and the Miskatonic University, the team is lead into a trap and escapes barely from an attack by unknown forces. Reportedly the strike teams sent out to kill the investigators consisted of bionetically or cybernetically enhanced individuals and at least one PGA of undeterminable classification. The team cannot find the remaining stone tablets, but they return with the name of the owner: Benjamin Rushing. A man who seems to have been alive for more than 60 years without showing any signs of aging.
>>
<<
July 9th Systematic analysis of the strange Arabian algorithm begins. D9 is assigned resources from the computer core for the project. July 15th The team sets itself the objective to retrieve the information of the lost tablets. Horrigan departs for a journey to the Darkside Moonbase and later to the Iris station for educational purposes. On his travels he meets one of the last survivors of his grad year and reestablishes contact with Shane Davenport while he studies Time Science on Iris.
>>
<<
July 16th Sudden malfunction in several key systems of the construct occur. Investigation leads to the self transforming virtual structure that developed out of the algorithm fed into the computer core. D9 is sent in with a team of VHIT-Marks to neutralize the source. Mission 12: Locate and investigate the source for the computer malfunctions. Determine a way to neutralize the source without jeopardizing the project. Debriefing Results: Despite a brief interference with the objectives from a troupe of escapists who try to manipulate Dr. Schönberg, the team manages to return. The digital patterns of the VHIT Marks are later found in an entirely different sector. Investigation revealed the error to be located in a function of the algorithm that opened Correspondence gates throughout foreign sectors of the net. The virtual representation of the algorithm is contained deeper within the core and isolated from the outside.
>>
<<
July 17th Dr. Schönberg signs on for psychological treatment because of confusing thoughs and motivation problems. July 20th Amalgam receives clearance to submit strategic plans for the extraction of the missing G'Harne tablets from the possession of Benjamin Rushing. August 5th Horrigan returns from his trip. Plans for the extraction are made. August 6th Without warning the whole computersystem of the I23-Construct is wracked by a series of system crashes. The Iteration-X system goes completely offline and the Convention Subconstruct becomes inaccessible. Rinaldi, D9 and Horrigan manage to get access and find the Iteration-X subconstruct in a state of confusion and without a working computer core. Void Engineer VRDI experts later find out that the Autochthonia Computer itself has shut down the connection.
>>
<<
August 7th During the late hours of that day, the Iteration-X Subconstruct returns to base system operation with a new computer core. A complete assembly of all capable Iteration-X personnel is called by the Comptroller. Many Iterators cannot or would not attend because of the high mental trauma they had suffered in the crash and the disconnection from the guidance of Autochthonia. August 15th The Iteration-X subconstruct of I23 has recovered enough to be considered fully operational by this day. Comptroller Yovis has taken the full resposibility of installing and starting an independent computer core that can sustain the system without being connected to Autochthonia. He is supported in this decision by the majority of Iteration-X personnel on I23. The US NWO finally grants clearance for the New York mission to extract te last stone tablets.
>>
<<
August 16th Mission 13: Operating from an MOC-Van, the team shall acquire the information content of the Rushing library. Any remaining material of the Rushing library shall be destroyed. Neutralize as many deviant lifeforms on site as possible. Collateral damage acceptable. Debriefing Results: Apart from injuries and yet another mental trauma of Dr.Schönberg and injuries of both D9 and Agent Tayla G, the mission is highly successful. Eight confirmed mutants were either killed or severely injured. Seven unconfirmed but suspected deviant lifeforms or collaborators and four unclassified individials were killed too. Benjamin Rushing could be apprehended in person and the content of his library extracted. All originals were left destroyed in an explosion that collapsed the Rushing residence and offices.

This is where the I23 Chronicle currently ends. Still many grave new developments have come up: Iteration-X is now at war with itself, the virus algorithm that lead to the disconnection of I23 from Autochthonia has spread through the Convention's computer systems with similar results. Some Iteration-X Comptrollers have declared the I23 Construct as Deviant and are motioning for a new Pogrom against their own. Others have taken to the side of the now independent Construct and see their actions as an option for a new futureBack
